   Hello, everyone. I live in a big apartment building in Chicago. Last year, I started saying hello to my neighbors every day. Today, I want to tell you why you should do it too.

   皆さん、こんにちは。私はシカゴの大きなマンションに住んでいます。去年から、毎日近所の人にあいさつするようになりました。今日は、皆さんにもそうしてほしい理由をお話しします。

2. 02Reason 1: It Makes People Smile

   First, it makes people smile. A small "Good morning" in the elevator can make someone's day better.

   一つ目に、人を笑顔にします。エレベーターでの小さな「おはようございます」で、だれかの一日が少し良くなるかもしれません。

3. 03Reason 2: You Can Help Each Other

   Second, you can help each other. Now my neighbor takes my packages when I'm not home, and I water her plants when she travels.

   二つ目に、助け合えるようになります。今では、私が留守のときは隣の人が荷物を受け取ってくれますし、彼女が旅行するときは私が植物に水をあげています。

4. 04Reason 3: Home Feels Safer

   Third, my building feels safer. I know the people who live near me, so I feel more comfortable at home.

   三つ目に、マンションがもっと安全に感じられます。近くに住む人を知っているので、家でもっと安心していられます。
