  1. 01My Neighbor Was Too Loud

Hi, everyone. Last year, a young couple moved into the apartment above mine. Every night, I heard loud music and footsteps until after midnight. Today, I'll explain how we solved the problem without a fight.

  2. 02The Problem

The problem was simple: I couldn't sleep. I had to get up at six for work, and I was tired every day.

  3. 03My First Idea: Complain

At first, I wanted to leave an angry note on their door. But I thought, "If I start with anger, they'll probably be angry too." So I decided to talk to them first.

  4. 04Step 1: A Friendly Visit

I knocked on their door on a Saturday afternoon, not late at night. I brought some cookies and introduced myself as their downstairs neighbor.

  5. 05Step 2: Explain, Don't Blame

Then I said, "I'm not sure if you know, but the sound travels a lot in this building. I start work early, so the music at night is hard for me." I explained my situation instead of blaming them.

  6. 06Step 3: Agree on a Simple Rule

They were surprised and apologized. They had no idea! We agreed on a simple rule: quiet after eleven, and they'd text me before any party.

  7. 07Conclusion

In conclusion, most neighbors aren't trying to be rude. They just don't know. A friendly conversation solved in five minutes what an angry note could have made worse. Thank you.
