   Hi, everyone. I'm a taxi driver in Bangkok, and I use a map app every day. One day, I wondered: how does it know the fastest way? Today, I'll explain the basic idea in simple words.

   大家好。我是曼谷的一名計程車司機，每天都會用地圖應用。有一天我突然想：它是怎麼知道最快的路線的？今天，我就用簡單的話來講講其中的基本原理。

2. 02Step 1: Knowing Where You Are

   First, the app needs to know where you are. Your phone gets signals from satellites, and it can also use nearby Wi-Fi and cell towers to find your position.

   首先，應用需要知道你在哪裡。你的手機會接收衛星訊號，也可以利用附近的Wi-Fi和手機基站來確定你的位置。

3. 03Step 2: Roads as a Network

   Second, the app sees the city like a giant net. Every corner is a point, and every road between them is a line. Each line has a cost: how long it takes to travel.

   第二，應用把城市看成一張巨大的網。每個路口是一個點，路口之間的每條路是一條線。每條線都有一個成本，也就是走完它需要多長時間。

   Third, the app searches for the path with the lowest total time. It doesn't try every road in the city. Instead, it uses smart shortcuts to focus on roads that lead toward your goal.

   第三，應用會尋找總時間最短的路線。它並不會把城裡的每條路都試一遍，而是用一些聰明的捷徑，集中搜尋通往目的地方向的道路。

   Finally, the app watches traffic. If a road is crowded, that line becomes more expensive, so the app may choose a different route, even while you're driving.

   最後，應用會關注交通狀況。如果某條路很堵，那條線的成本就會變高，所以即使你正在開車，應用也可能會換一條路線。

6. 06Why It's Sometimes Wrong

   Of course, it's not perfect. A sudden accident or a closed street can surprise it. As a taxi driver, I sometimes know a better way, because I know my city.

   當然，它並不完美。突發事故或者封閉的道路都可能讓它措手不及。作為計程車司機，我有時候知道更好的路，因為我瞭解自己的城市。
