   Good afternoon. I'm thirty-one, I work as a pharmacist in Milan, and last year, I moved back into my parents' apartment. At first, I was embarrassed to tell people. Today, I want to take an honest look at the pros and cons of that decision.

   Buenas tardes. Tengo treinta y un años, trabajo como farmacéutico en Milán y el año pasado volví a vivir en el apartamento de mis padres. Al principio me daba vergüenza contárselo a la gente. Hoy quiero analizar con sinceridad las ventajas y desventajas de esa decisión.

2. 02Why I Did It

   My reason was simple: rent in my city kept rising, and I wanted to save for a home of my own. Living with my parents for two years seemed like the fastest way to get there.

   Mi razón era sencilla: el alquiler en mi ciudad no dejaba de subir y yo quería ahorrar para tener mi propia casa. Vivir con mis padres durante dos años parecía la forma más rápida de lograrlo.

3. 03Pro: Real Savings

   The financial benefit is huge. I pay my parents a fair amount for food and bills, but it's far less than rent. For the first time in my adult life, I'm saving seriously.

   The unexpected benefit was emotional. I've gotten to know my parents as people, not just as "Mom and Dad." We have long dinners, and I've heard stories about their youth that I'd never heard before.

7. 07What Made It Work

   Three things made it work. I contribute money, so I feel like an adult in the house. I share the chores. And we agreed on an end date, so everyone knows this is temporary.

   Tres cosas hicieron que funcionara. Aporto dinero, así que me siento como un adulto en la casa. Comparto las tareas del hogar. Y acordamos una fecha de salida, así que todos saben que esto es temporal.

   In conclusion, moving back home isn't a failure. With clear rules and a clear goal, it can be a smart step. Sometimes, a step back is the best way to move forward. Thank you.
