01Let's Bring Back Our Summer Festival
Good evening, everyone. Thank you for coming to tonight's neighborhood association meeting. Five years ago, our small summer festival stopped. Tonight, I'd like to propose that we bring it back.
02What We Lost
Many of you will remember it: the bon dance in the park, the food stalls run by local families, and the children in yukata chasing each other. For one evening, the whole neighborhood came together.
03Why It Matters Now
Why does this matter now? Since the festival ended, I've noticed that many neighbors don't know each other anymore. Several young families have moved in, and some of them have told me they feel isolated.
04The Plan: Smaller and Simpler
My plan is to start smaller and simpler than before. One evening in August, a bon dance with recorded music, five food stalls, and everything finished by nine o'clock.
05"What About the Cost?"
The first question is always money. To cover the costs, each stall would pay a small fee, and I've already spoken to three local shops that are willing to sponsor the event.
06"Who Will Do the Work?"
The second concern is volunteers. The old festival depended on a few people doing everything. This time, I suggest small teams, so each volunteer only needs to give about two hours.
07What I'm Asking For
So, here's what I'm asking for tonight: approval to use the park for one evening, and ten volunteers to form the first teams. The sign-up sheet is at the back of the room.
08Conclusion
To conclude, one small evening in August could make our neighborhood feel like a community again. Let's bring the lanterns back to the park. Thank you.
