1. 01My Proposal: A Language Exchange Club

   Good morning, everyone. Our school has students from many different countries, but we rarely talk to each other. Today, I'd like to propose a new club: a language exchange club.

   皆さん、おはようございます。私たちの学校には、いろいろな国から来た生徒がいますが、お互いに話すことはめったにありません。今日は、新しいクラブを提案したいと思います。言語交換クラブです。

2. 02The Problem

   Right now, most students stay in groups with people who speak the same language. As a result, we have very few chances to practice speaking other languages in real life.

   今、ほとんどの生徒は、同じ言葉を話す人たちのグループの中にいます。その結果、実生活でほかの言語を話す練習をする機会が、とても少ないのです。

3. 03The Idea

   Here's my idea. We make pairs of students with different first languages. They talk for thirty minutes in one language, and then thirty minutes in the other. Everyone is both a teacher and a learner.

   私のアイデアはこうです。母語の違う生徒同士でペアを作ります。一つの言語で30分話して、それからもう一つの言語で30分話します。みんなが先生であり、生徒でもあるのです。

4. 04The Benefits

   This club has three benefits. We get free speaking practice, we make friends from other cultures, and our school becomes a friendlier place for everyone.

   このクラブには三つの良さがあります。無料で話す練習ができること、ほかの文化の友達ができること、そして学校がみんなにとってもっと居心地のいい場所になることです。

5. 05What We Need

   To start, we only need two things: one empty classroom on Wednesday afternoons, and one teacher who is willing to be our advisor.

   始めるのに必要なものは、二つだけです。水曜日の午後に空いている教室を一つと、顧問になってくれる先生を一人です。

6. 06A Trial Plan

   We don't need to decide everything now. I suggest we try it for one term, ask members for feedback, and then decide whether to continue.

   今すべてを決める必要はありません。1学期間試してみて、メンバーに感想を聞いて、それから続けるかどうかを決めることを提案します。

7. 07Conclusion
