1. 01Texting vs. Calling

   Hi, everyone. My mother always calls me, but I almost always reply with a text. She once asked me, "Why don't you ever call?" Today, I'll compare texting and calling, and explain my answer to her.

   皆さん、こんにちは。母はいつも電話をかけてきますが、私はほとんどいつもメッセージで返事をします。一度、母に「どうして一度も電話してこないの？」と聞かれました。今日は、メッセージと電話を比べて、母への答えを説明します。

2. 02Texting: Flexible

   The biggest advantage of texting is flexibility. I can answer when I'm ready, even in a meeting or on a train, and I don't interrupt the other person.

   メッセージの一番のメリットは、自由がきくことです。会議中でも電車の中でも、準備ができたときに返事ができますし、相手のじゃまもしません。

3. 03Texting: Time to Think

   Texting also gives me time to think. I can choose my words carefully, and it's easy to check details later, like addresses or times.

   メッセージなら、考える時間もあります。言葉を慎重に選べますし、住所や時間などの細かいことも、あとで簡単に確かめられます。

4. 04Calling: Warm and Fast

   On the other hand, calling has its own strengths. Hearing someone's voice feels warmer, and it's easier to understand their feelings. Complicated plans are also faster to solve on the phone.

   一方で、電話には電話の強みがあります。相手の声を聞くと温かく感じますし、気持ちも分かりやすくなります。複雑な予定も、電話の方が早く決まります。

   When I put them side by side, I see that they're good for different things.

   二つを並べてみると、それぞれ向いていることが違うと分かります。

6. 06My Answer to My Mother

   So here's what I told my mother: I text for quick things, like times and places, but I'll call for important things, like big news or when someone needs support. Now I call her every Sunday.

   そこで、母にはこう伝えました。時間や場所のような簡単なことはメッセージにするけれど、大きなニュースや、だれかに支えが必要なときのような大事なことは電話する、と。今では、毎週日曜日に母に電話しています。

7. 07Conclusion

   In conclusion, neither is always better. Texting is efficient, and calling is personal. The key is choosing the right one for the moment. Which do you prefer? Thank you.

   まとめると、どちらかがいつも良いわけではありません。メッセージは効率的で、電話は心がこもります。大切なのは、その時に合ったものを選ぶことです。あなたはどちらが好きですか？ありがとうございました。
