1. 01I Was Too Shy to Speak in Class

   Hi, everyone. Two years ago, I never raised my hand in class, even when I knew the answer. Today, I'm giving a presentation in front of all of you. I'd like to share how that changed.

   大家好。两年前，我上课从来不举手，即使我知道答案也不举。今天，我却站在大家面前做演讲。我想和大家分享这一切是怎么改变的。

2. 02The Problem

   Whenever a teacher asked a question, my heart started beating fast. I was afraid of making a mistake and looking stupid, so I stayed silent.

   每当老师提问时，我的心就怦怦直跳。我害怕说错，害怕显得很笨，所以一直不说话。

3. 03Why It Mattered

   This became a real problem. My participation grade was low, and I missed chances to check if I really understood the lessons.

   这变成了一个真正的问题。我的课堂参与分很低，而且我错过了确认自己是否真正理解课程内容的机会。

4. 04Step 1: Prepare One Sentence

   My first step was small. Before each class, I read the material and wrote down one sentence I could say. Having it ready made me much less nervous.

   我的第一步很小。每次上课前，我会先读材料，写下一句我可以说的话。提前准备好，让我紧张感少了很多。

5. 05Step 2: Speak Early

   Next, I tried to speak in the first ten minutes of class. The longer I waited, the more nervous I became, so speaking early gave me less time to worry.

   接下来，我尝试在上课的前十分钟内发言。等得越久，我就越紧张，所以早点发言能让我少一些时间去担心。

6. 06Step 3: Practice in Small Groups

   Finally, I practiced in small groups. Talking to three classmates felt much easier than talking to thirty, and it slowly built my confidence.

   最后，我在小组里练习。和三个同学说话比和三十个人说话容易多了，这也慢慢建立起了我的自信。
