1. 01Our Street Was Too Dark at Night

   Hello, everyone. I live on a small street in Cape Town. Last winter, many people said they felt unsafe walking home at night. Today, I'll explain how our neighbors solved this problem together.

   大家好。我住在開普敦的一條小街上。去年冬天，很多人說晚上走路回家時覺得不安全。今天，我想跟大家分享，我們的鄰居是怎麼一起解決這個問題的。

2. 02The Problem

   The problem was simple but serious. Two streetlights were broken, and one corner was completely dark. Many older people stopped going out after sunset.

   問題很單純，但很嚴重。有兩盞路燈壞了，還有一個轉角完全是暗的。很多長輩太陽一下山就不再出門了。

3. 03Step 1: We Talked

   First, we organized a meeting in my neighbor's garden. About twenty people came, and everyone shared their worries and ideas.

   首先，我們在鄰居家的院子裡開了一次會。大約來了二十個人，每個人都說出了自己的擔心和想法。

4. 04Step 2: We Contacted the City

   Next, we wrote a letter to the city with photos of the broken lights. Thirty families signed it. Two weeks later, the city repaired both lights.

   接著，我們寫了一封信給市政府，附上壞掉路燈的照片。有三十戶人家在信上簽名。兩個星期後，市政府把兩盞燈都修好了。

5. 05Step 3: Lights at Home

   We also took action ourselves. Families agreed to keep their porch lights on in the evening, and we bought solar lights for the dark corner with money we collected together.

   我們自己也採取了行動。各家說好晚上把門口的燈開著，我們也用大家一起湊的錢，替那個暗暗的轉角買了太陽能燈。

6. 06The Result

   The result was more than a brighter street. Older neighbors started walking in the evening again, and we got to know each other much better.

   結果不只是街道變亮了而已。年長的鄰居又開始在傍晚出來散步，我們彼此也熟悉了很多。

7. 07Conclusion

   In conclusion, we didn't need a big budget. We needed a meeting, a letter, and some lights. If there's a problem on your street, try talking to your neighbors first. Thank you.
