1. 01AI in Schools: The Case For

   Good morning, everyone. Many schools are worried about students using AI to do their homework, and some want to ban it completely. Today, I'll argue that schools should welcome AI and teach students to use it well.

   Buenos días a todos. A muchas escuelas les preocupa que los estudiantes usen la IA para hacer la tarea, y algunas quieren prohibirla por completo. Hoy voy a argumentar que las escuelas deberían acoger la IA y enseñar a los estudiantes a usarla bien.

2. 02AI Is Already Everywhere

   First of all, AI is already part of daily life. It's in our phones, our search engines, and the tools many adults use at work. Banning it at school won't make it disappear.

   En primer lugar, la IA ya forma parte de la vida diaria. Está en nuestros teléfonos, en los buscadores y en las herramientas que muchos adultos usan en el trabajo. Prohibirla en la escuela no hará que desaparezca.

3. 03A Personal Tutor for Everyone

   Second, AI can act like a personal tutor. It can explain a difficult idea in several different ways and answer questions at any time. Not every family can pay for a private teacher, so this could make learning fairer.

   En segundo lugar, la IA puede funcionar como un tutor personal. Puede explicar una idea difícil de varias maneras distintas y responder preguntas a cualquier hora. No todas las familias pueden pagar un profesor particular, así que esto podría hacer el aprendizaje más justo.

4. 04Skills for the Future

   Third, knowing how to use AI is becoming an important skill. In the future, the most valuable skills may be asking good questions and checking whether an answer is true. Schools are the best place to learn these skills.

   En tercer lugar, saber usar la IA se está convirtiendo en una habilidad importante. En el futuro, las habilidades más valiosas quizá sean hacer buenas preguntas y comprobar si una respuesta es cierta. La escuela es el mejor lugar para aprender estas habilidades.

5. 05What About Cheating?

   Of course, some students will use AI to cheat. But the answer is to change how we test, not to ban the tool. For example, teachers can use more presentations, discussions, and projects done in class.

   Claro, algunos estudiantes usarán la IA para hacer trampa. Pero la solución es cambiar la forma de evaluar, no prohibir la herramienta. Por ejemplo, los docentes pueden usar más presentaciones, debates y proyectos hechos en clase.

6. 06Clear Rules

   To make this work, schools need clear rules. Teachers can explain how AI works, say when it is allowed, and ask students to show their thinking process.

   Para que esto funcione, las escuelas necesitan reglas claras. Los docentes pueden explicar cómo funciona la IA, decir cuándo está permitida y pedir a los estudiantes que muestren su proceso de pensamiento.

7. 07My Position

   My position is clear: hiding AI from students will not prepare them for the real world. Teaching them to use it wisely will.

   Mi postura es clara: esconderles la IA a los estudiantes no los preparará para el mundo real. Enseñarles a usarla con criterio, sí.

8. 08Conclusion

   In conclusion, students will meet AI sooner or later. The only question is whether they learn to use it on their own or with a teacher's help. I believe school is the right place. Thank you.

   En conclusión, los estudiantes se encontrarán con la IA tarde o temprano. La única pregunta es si aprenderán a usarla por su cuenta o con la ayuda de un docente. Creo que la escuela es el lugar adecuado. Gracias.
