Let's Start a Repair Café
Fix things together instead of throwing them away
Model script
Good evening, everyone. Last month, my toaster broke, and I almost threw it away. Then I found out it only needed a small repair. That gave me an idea: let's start a repair café in our neighborhood.

01Let's Start a Repair Café
Good evening, everyone. Last month, my toaster broke, and I almost threw it away. Then I found out it only needed a small repair. That gave me an idea: let's start a repair café in our neighborhood.
02What Is a Repair Café?
A repair café is a free meeting where people bring broken things, like lamps, clothes, or bikes, and volunteers help them fix them. You don't just get a repair; you learn how to do it.
03A Real Idea From Amsterdam
This isn't a new idea. The first repair café was organized in Amsterdam in 2009, and according to the Repair Café organization, there are now over two thousand five hundred around the world, including some in Japan.

04My Plan
Here's my plan. We could meet once a month at the community center, on Sunday afternoons from one to four. We'd serve tea and snacks while people wait.
05Why It's Worth It
It's worth it for three reasons. We'd throw away less, save money on new things, and meet neighbors with useful skills.
06What We Need
To make this happen, we need volunteers who can fix electronics, clothes, or bikes, some basic tools, and a sewing machine. You don't need to be an expert. Just bring your curiosity.
07Conclusion
To sum up, a repair café is cheap, friendly, and good for the planet. If you'd like to help, please talk to me after the meeting. Thank you.
