1. 01Teach Every Student to Check Online Information

   Good evening, members of the school board. I'm a parent and a web developer. Tonight, I'd like to propose that every student in our district learn how to check whether online information is true.

   各位校董会成员，晚上好。我是一名家长，也是一名网页开发人员。今晚，我想提议让我们学区的每一名学生都学会如何判断网上的信息是否属实。

2. 02What I See at Home

   Let me start with what I see at home. My children regularly show me videos and screenshots that look real but turn out to be edited or completely made up. Often, they've already shared them with friends.

   我先说说我在家里看到的情况。我的孩子经常给我看一些视频和截图，看起来很真实，结果却是经过剪辑的，或者完全是编造的。而且很多时候，他们已经把这些内容分享给朋友了。

3. 03Why Schools Should Act

   Why should schools act? Because my children, like most of their friends, get their news from social media rather than newspapers, and new tools make it easier than ever to create convincing fake images and videos.

   学校为什么要采取行动？因为我的孩子和他们的大多数朋友一样，是从社交媒体而不是报纸上获取新闻的，而且新的工具让制作以假乱真的图片和视频变得前所未有地容易。

4. 04What Students Would Learn

   The program would teach three simple questions. Who made this, and why? What is the evidence? And what do other trusted sources say? These questions work for any topic, from health to politics.

5. 05How It Would Work

   We don't need a new subject. Teachers could add short lessons to existing classes, like English and social studies, using real examples students actually see online.

   我们不需要开设新的科目。老师们可以在现有的课程里，比如英语课和社会课，加入一些简短的内容，用学生们在网上真正看到的例子来讲。

6. 06"Our Teachers Are Already Busy"

   I know teachers are already very busy. That's why I suggest we provide ready-made lesson plans and one training day, so teachers don't have to create everything themselves.

   我知道老师们已经很忙了。所以我建议我们提供现成的教案和一天的培训，这样老师们就不必什么都自己准备。

7. 07A First Step

   As a first step, I propose a one-year pilot in two schools. At the end of the year, we can ask teachers and students what worked, and decide whether to expand it.

   第一步，我提议先在两所学校进行为期一年的试点。年底的时候，我们可以问问老师和学生哪些做法有效，再决定是否推广。

   To conclude, checking information is no longer an extra skill; it's a basic one, like reading and math. Let's make sure every student leaves school with it. Thank you for your time.
