1. 01Apartment or House?

   Good morning, everyone. I'm a retired bus driver from Melbourne. For thirty years, my family lived in a house. Then, after the kids left home, my wife and I moved into an apartment. Today, I'll compare the two.

   大家早安。我是來自墨爾本的一名退休公車司機。三十年來，我們一家住在一棟獨棟房子裡。後來，孩子們離家以後，我和妻子搬進了公寓。今天，我來比較一下這兩種住處。

2. 02Space

   First, space. Our house had a garden and four bedrooms, whereas our apartment has two bedrooms and a balcony. We miss the garden, but honestly, we don't need the extra rooms anymore.

   第一，空間。我們的房子有花園和四間臥室，而公寓只有兩間臥室和一個陽臺。我們很懷念那個花園，但說實話，我們已經不需要多餘的房間了。

3. 03Work and Maintenance

   Second, work. With the house, there was always something to fix: the roof, the fence, the lawn. In the apartment, building repairs are shared, so our weekends are much freer.

   第二，家務活。住房子的時候，總有東西要修：屋頂、圍欄、草坪。住公寓的話，樓裡的維修是大家分攤的，所以我們的週末自由多了。

4. 04Location

   Third, location. The house was in a quiet suburb, so we needed the car for everything. Now we live near shops, cafés, and the train station. We walk much more than before.

   第三，位置。房子在一個安靜的郊區，所以做什麼都得開車。現在我們住在商店、咖啡館和火車站附近。我們走路比以前多得多。

5. 05Neighbors and Noise

   The downside of the apartment is noise. We sometimes hear our neighbors, and we can't play music loudly. The house was much more private.

   公寓的缺點是噪音。有時我們會聽到鄰居的聲音，也不能大聲放音樂。房子要私密得多。

6. 06Side by Side

   Here's a simple summary. Neither one is better for everyone. It depends on your stage of life.

   這裡有一個簡單的總結。沒有哪一種對所有人都更好。這取決於你所處的人生階段。

7. 07Conclusion

   In conclusion, a house was perfect when our kids were young. Now, an apartment suits us better. My advice is to choose a home for the life you have now, not the life you had before. Thank you.
