1. 01A Part-Time Job in High School

   Hello, everyone. I'm seventeen, and I go to high school in Auckland. For the past year, I've worked at a fast-food restaurant on weekends. Today, I'll share the pros and cons of having a job while you're still in school.

   안녕하세요, 여러분. 저는 열일곱 살이고, 오클랜드에서 고등학교에 다닙니다. 지난 1년 동안 주말마다 패스트푸드점에서 일했습니다. 오늘은 학교에 다니면서 일하는 것의 장단점을 나누겠습니다.

2. 02Pro: My Own Money

   The most obvious advantage is money. I don't need to ask my parents for money anymore, and I've learned to budget. When you earn it yourself, you think twice before spending.

   가장 분명한 장점은 돈입니다. 이제 부모님께 용돈을 달라고 할 필요가 없고, 예산을 짜는 법도 배웠습니다. 직접 벌면 쓰기 전에 두 번 생각하게 됩니다.

3. 03Pro: Real-World Skills

   I've also learned skills that school doesn't teach. I talk to customers, even angry ones. I work in a team under pressure. I'm much more confident than I was a year ago.

   학교에서 가르쳐 주지 않는 능력도 배웠습니다. 화가 난 손님까지 포함해서 손님과 이야기합니다. 압박 속에서 팀으로 일합니다. 1년 전보다 훨씬 자신감이 생겼습니다.

4. 04Con: Less Time to Study

   However, there are real costs. After an eight-hour shift, I'm too tired to study. Sometimes I rush my homework on Sunday night, and my grades in math have dropped a little.

   하지만 분명한 대가도 있습니다. 8시간 근무를 하고 나면 너무 피곤해서 공부를 못 합니다. 가끔 일요일 밤에 숙제를 급하게 하고, 수학 성적이 조금 떨어졌습니다.

5. 05Con: Missing Out

   Another disadvantage is missing out. My friends go to the beach or parties on weekends, and I'm often at work. I also have less time just to rest.

   또 다른 단점은 놓치는 것들입니다. 친구들은 주말에 바닷가나 파티에 가는데, 저는 일하고 있을 때가 많습니다. 그냥 쉴 시간도 줄었습니다.

6. 06My Advice

   My advice is to limit your hours. I now work only one day a week, and I ask for time off before exams. Most bosses understand if you ask early.

   제 조언은 일하는 시간을 제한하라는 것입니다. 저는 지금 일주일에 하루만 일하고, 시험 전에는 쉬게 해 달라고 부탁합니다. 일찍 말하면 대부분의 사장님은 이해해 주십니다.

   In conclusion, a part-time job can teach you a lot, but school should come first. With sensible limits, you can have both. Thank you.
