1. 01A Part-Time Job in High School

   Hello, everyone. I'm seventeen, and I go to high school in Auckland. For the past year, I've worked at a fast-food restaurant on weekends. Today, I'll share the pros and cons of having a job while you're still in school.

   大家好。我今年十七岁，在奥克兰上高中。过去一年里，我每到周末都在一家快餐店打工。今天，我来分享一下还在上学时打工的利与弊。

2. 02Pro: My Own Money

   The most obvious advantage is money. I don't need to ask my parents for money anymore, and I've learned to budget. When you earn it yourself, you think twice before spending.

   最明显的好处是钱。我不用再向父母要钱了，而且学会了做预算。钱是自己挣的，花之前就会三思。

3. 03Pro: Real-World Skills

   I've also learned skills that school doesn't teach. I talk to customers, even angry ones. I work in a team under pressure. I'm much more confident than I was a year ago.

   我还学到了学校里学不到的技能。我和顾客打交道，甚至包括生气的顾客。我在压力下和团队一起工作。和一年前相比，我自信多了。

4. 04Con: Less Time to Study

   However, there are real costs. After an eight-hour shift, I'm too tired to study. Sometimes I rush my homework on Sunday night, and my grades in math have dropped a little.

   不过，代价也是实实在在的。上完八个小时的班，我累得没法学习。有时候我周日晚上才匆匆赶作业，我的数学成绩也下降了一点。

5. 05Con: Missing Out

   Another disadvantage is missing out. My friends go to the beach or parties on weekends, and I'm often at work. I also have less time just to rest.

   另一个坏处是会错过很多事情。周末朋友们去海边或者参加派对，而我常常在上班。我单纯休息的时间也变少了。

6. 06My Advice

   My advice is to limit your hours. I now work only one day a week, and I ask for time off before exams. Most bosses understand if you ask early.

   我的建议是限制工作时间。我现在每周只工作一天，考试前会请假。只要提早说，大多数老板都能理解。

   In conclusion, a part-time job can teach you a lot, but school should come first. With sensible limits, you can have both. Thank you.
